Mark Your Calendar. Mecury Vapors, Oh My!

Deadly Mercury Vapors and Daguerrotypes Explained

Daguerrotype: An early variety of photograph, produced on a silver plate, or copper plate covered with silver, and rendered sensitive by the action of iodine, or iodine and bromine, on which, after exposure in the camera, the latent image is developed by the vapor of mercury.

Whew. Mercury. Sounds like a scary process that you should know more about.

Please join us for a very special event—a walk through Photo Alchemy with the artists. Friday, April 15, 5:30-6:30 p.m. right here at photography.

This is a great chance to hear from the photographers themselves the story and the techniques behind their beautiful images. Several of the artists from this show will be in Portland for the Photolucida reviews. While they are here we thought you might like to hear about their work. We'll also have a special award ceremony for our Portfolio Award Winner and our three Juror's Choice Award winners. This event is free and open to the public. No RSVPs are necessary.

Artists who will be joining us for this event include: Jody Ake, Susan Arthur, Natasha Bacca, Bryan David Griffith, Loli Kantor and Curtis Wehrfritz. We hope you can join us too!

Preview this show at the online catalog here.

See you then!
